Full Marathon

If you’re ready for the ultimate challenge, start training today for the Full Marathon. At 26.2 miles, the Mayor’s Marathon will test your strength, endurance, and resolve.

Half Marathon

Are you ready for the Half Marathon? This 13.1 mile course is the perfect opportunity to take your commitment to the next level, and you’ll experience many of the same exciting features as the Full Marathon.

5K

Imagine the sense of victory you’ll feel after completing this 3.1 mile run. This is your opportunity to set a goal and accomplish it. Don’t let anything stand in your way!

2 Mile Kid’s Run

The 2 Mile Kid’s Run is a safe, positive event for runners under the age of 12. Overcoming obstacles and setting healthy goals will help them throughout their lives. Sign up today!

The Mayor’s Marathon is an official Boston Qualifier. For qualifying times and more information about applying for the Boston Marathon, please visit their website.

king of the hill

For athletes seeking an additional challenge, we are timing how long it takes participants to cross the first overpass. Those with the best times will receive a special King of the Hill award.

restrooms

One portable toilet will be located at every aid station along the route, found at every mile marker. Runners will not need to leave the race in order to utilize these facilities.

9 – overpasses

Loop 289 includes nine overpasses, making for a unique and challenging run. Participants in the 5K, half marathon, and full marathon all get to experience the overpasses.

aid station / amenities

Aid stations will be located at every mile marker, offering water, Gatorade, Endurance, and snacks to all participants. Medical stations will be found every two miles.

The route has been approved as an official Boston Marathon Qualifier. See this site for the most up-to-date maps of the course.

parking

Special parking will be provided. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE TO THE START / FINISH LINE. Roads will be closed to ensure safety for all participants.

food trucks / live music

A variety of food trucks will offer breakfast and lunch options. We will have music, inflatables, and local vendors for spectators and kids.

start / finish details

Start Line Village and the finish line’s Secure Zone will offer pre-race drinks and snacks, as well as a medical tents and restrooms.

pacers

Pacers will receive free pace signs and have their entry fee waved. If you’d like to participate as a pacer, please contact us.

Weekend of the Race

Packet Pickup Time and Location

Packet pickup will take place on April 26 and 27, the Friday and Saturday before the big event. Packets cannot be picked up the day of the marathon. The time and location will be announced closer to race day.

What You’ll Get

At packet pickup, receive your registration packet, timing tag, swag bag, and race t-shirt. Official race hats and other items will also be available for sale at packet pickup.

Attention Local Participants

Make Friday YOUR day! Packet pickup will be crowded on Saturday when most out-of-town runners arrive. We encourage local participants to visit packet pickup on Friday.

Helpful Tips & Reminders

  • Make sure that you have signed all waivers on Active
  • Photo I.D. – Bring your Active confirmation email and photo I.D. to the Expo to pick up your race number.
  • Pick up your own race packet and number at the Expo – NO EXCEPTIONS! Your photo I.D. will be checked.
  • You may not pick up a race number for anyone else Wear your race number on the front of all clothing during the race

Every registered participant will receive a swag bag. This awesome goodie bag will double as your gear check bag, which you can check in at the start of the race. We’ll have it waiting for you at the finish line.

Special parking areas will be designated for everyone taking part in the Mayor’s Marathon. For the safety of everyone, no vehicles will be allowed near the starting line or on the course.

Finisher Medals

Best Times

The Mayor’s Marathon uses RunFar’s chip technology to record accurate start and finish times for our runners. The fastest male and female participants in the Mayor’s Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K will earn first place awards.

Age Group Awards

The fastest three times for each age groups in the Mayor’s Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K will earn awards. The age categories are: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.

Special Awards

Special Awards will also be given to winning participants. These awards include the King of the Hill challenge, given to the runners who finish the first overpass the fastest.

FAQS

Are we really running on the Loop?
Yes! This one day only, you and all your friends have an opportunity to run on the Loop around Lubbock.
What is the average weather in Lubbock in late April?
Average lows range between 44 to 53 degrees.
Is this race benefitting a charity?
Yes. The Lubbock Mayor’s Fitness Council is a registered 501(c)3. All proceeds from the event will be distributed to Lubbock charities. More information on the specific organizations will be announced in February 2018.
